Well, speak of the devil! A new softcover edition of Creative Illustration by Andrew Loomis is available for pre-order right now at Amazon.com at the low, low price of US$13.57. Word on the Web is that Titan Books will reprint more of Loomis’s books if this initial offering is a success. Currently, at abebooks.com, the least expensive used copy of Creative Illustration, hardcover with no dustjacket, is priced at US$109.00. I placed my order at Amazon today. How about you?

And here’s something else that’s odd: the Titan Books Web site is down right now. I hope it’s just coincidence, and not an indication that the publisher of the promised new edition of Creative Illustration is in the process of going under…

Update: The Titan Books Web site is back. Although I can’t find any mention of Creative Illustration in their catalogue, on September 1st, 2008, at 07:01 AM a participant at this site claimed that he personally had received an email from Titan Books explaining that the book has simply been postponed and that they will, eventually, update the Amazon listing. So, good news… if true…
